This site includes information on Mark Twain's novel Pudd'nhead Wilson and also includes a variety of lesson plans retrieved from outside sources that are helpful in teaching the novel to students in secondary levels of education.
This teaching unit provides an extensive amount of activities that familiarize students with the novel. Contents include comprehensive chapter-by-chapter study guides,
essay and discussion questions, vocabulary lists, and a multiple-choice and essay test with answer key. The overall lesson plan provides students, particularly those in High School English I courses, with a large variety of comprehension of their reading.
This teaching unit is more of an extensive source of determining comprehension from Twain's novel. It is better suited for upper-level English courses, such as English III & IV or AP English courses because it examines the use of literary terms and devices and it also overviews the allusion of other texts in relation to the novel. The lesson plan also includes a unit where the history of the novel is examined, and students are expected to answer questions which address the historical context of the text. Vocabulary terms are also included, as well as short answer questions and questions which address the understanding of literary devices. Overall, this unit was very complex and gives the student a more extended sense of comprehension amongst the text and the use of literary style.
